About Us
Hi! We are Gabriel & Lauren Pineda, owners of The Chunky Monkey. We are a hopelessly in love married couple with one young son (Jr.). We are just starting out on this new business owner journey and are so excited!
The Chunky Monkey opened as a Taco Truck on 90th & Aurora in July 2010. We have since closed our truck and have transitioned into a Catering Company. We are working towards opening a brick & mortar location to better serve you!
Our company is based on the belief that our guests' needs are of the utmost importance. We are very committed to meeting those needs. We hope as a result to have a high percentage of our business from repeat customers and referrals.
The Chunky Monkey is a family owned business. We have worked in the restaurant industry for upwards of13 years combined. Starting in positions like dish washer and server and working our way up to bartender, trainer, and manager to now running our own business! We are so thrilled to have one of our dreams come true!
Lauren was born and raised in Southern CA. Growing up around lots of great food,from great Mexican restaurants to her mom's comfort food there was plenty of inspiration! Gabriel was born in El Higo, Veracruz Mexico and raised in Mexico City learning many great recipes and cooking techniques from his mother, aunts, and grandmother. Also pulling inspiration from the wonderful restaurants he has worked for. We lived together in So. CA for 3 years before picking up and moving to the Seattle area. We saw a need for some true great Mexican food and great customer service!
